Coverage And Results
📐 Expected Indoor Coverage Area
The outdoor signal available where the donor antenna is installed plays a major role in determining indoor coverage. Phone bars are only an approximate guide; a measured dBm reading is more reliable.
Approx. Outside Signal Measured Strength Est. Indoor Coverage
5 Bars -55 to -70 dBm Up to 1,500 m²
4–5 Bars -71 to -85 dBm Up to 1,250 m²
3–4 Bars -86 to -95 dBm Up to 1,000 m²
2–3 Bars -96 to -105 dBm Up to 650 m²
1–2 Bars -106 to -110 dBm Up to 350 m²
Very Weak or No Signal Below -110 dBm Site assessment recommended

Coverage figures are estimates, not guarantees. Actual results depend on the outdoor signal, frequency band, building materials, layout, cable loss, antenna placement and the number of indoor antennas. Maximum coverage assumes strong outdoor signal, professional installation and a suitably designed indoor antenna system.

Product information

Built Better. Backed Longer.

A warranty says a lot about the product behind it.

At Bolton Technical, we don’t believe a premium signal solution should only perform well on day one. It should be engineered for reliable, long-term performance — and backed accordingly.

That’s why our WilsonPro and weBoost home, office and vehicle signal booster kits are protected by an industry-leading 3-year manufacturer’s limited warranty.

It’s another part of The Bolton Standard: premium equipment, proven technology, realistic performance, South African compliance and local support from a team prepared to stand behind what we sell.

Why 3 Years Matters

Not all signal boosters are built to the same standard.

We carefully select professional-grade products from established global manufacturers with a proven track record in cellular connectivity. As the exclusive distributor of Wilson Connectivity products in Africa, Bolton Technical is backed by one of the world’s leading names in cellular signal enhancement.

Our 3-year warranty reflects the confidence we have in the equipment we supply.

Premium products. Proper support. Long-term peace of mind.

That is what we believe our customers should expect from Bolton Technical.

What Our 3-Year Warranty Covers

Bolton Technical provides a 3-year manufacturer’s limited warranty on qualifying home, office and vehicle signal booster kits sold by Bolton Technical in South Africa.

The warranty applies from the date of purchase or delivery, whichever is later, and covers defects in materials or workmanship during the warranty period.

If your product develops a fault and our technical team determines that the fault is the result of a manufacturing defect, Bolton Technical will, at our discretion:

  • Repair the faulty product or component; or

  • Replace the faulty product or component.

There will be no charge for the repair or replacement of an approved warranty claim.

Valid proof of purchase, such as your Bolton Technical invoice or receipt, will be required.

The cost of returning the product to Bolton Technical is for the customer’s account. Once an approved warranty repair or replacement has been completed, Bolton Technical will cover the cost of delivering the repaired or replacement product back to you within South Africa.

Protecting Your Equipment

Our signal booster systems are designed for years of reliable performance when installed and used correctly.

To keep your equipment protected and your warranty valid, please ensure that the system is installed according to the supplied instructions and that suitable surge protection is used.

A surge-protected power supply with a minimum rating of 1,000 joules is required. Damage caused by electrical surges or operating the product without suitable surge protection may not be covered by the warranty.

For larger or more complex installations, our team can also assist with professional installation and technical guidance.

What the Warranty Does Not Cover

The manufacturer’s warranty does not cover faults or damage caused by:

  • Misuse, abuse or neglect

  • Accidents or physical damage

  • Incorrect or improper installation

  • Unauthorised repairs, modifications or alterations

  • Electrical surges where suitable surge protection was not used

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Cosmetic damage that does not affect product operation

  • Removal, alteration or tampering with the original serial number

  • Products purchased through unauthorised resellers or imported through unofficial or grey-market channels

The warranty applies to the original purchaser only and is not transferable.

3-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty

Qualifying weBoost and WilsonPro cellular signal booster products supplied by Bolton Technical are backed by a 3-year manufacturer’s limited warranty.

If your unit develops a fault or no longer performs to its usual standard during the warranty period, please contact us. Our team will assist with troubleshooting and, where necessary, arrange for the product to be assessed.

The warranty covers qualifying defects in materials and workmanship affecting the signal booster or cellular amplifier.

Following assessment, an eligible product may be repaired or replaced, as appropriate.

We’re not here for a once-off sale. We’re here to support you throughout the life of your system.

30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

We understand that a cellular signal booster is an important purchase.

That’s why qualifying cellular signal booster products purchased from Bolton Technical are covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee from the date you receive your order.

This guarantee also applies to products purchased during a promotion or sale. Buying at a promotional price does not mean receiving a lower standard of service.

If you would like to arrange a return, contact us and we will provide you with an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorisation) and guide you through the process.

Return Requirements

To help us process your return as quickly as possible:

  1. Products should be returned in their original condition and must not have been modified or altered.

  2. Original packaging should be included, together with proof of purchase.

  3. All components and accessories originally supplied with the product or kit must be returned.

  4. Where an amplifier is being returned for testing, repair or replacement, the complete kit may be required so that our technical team can properly assess the system.

  5. The customer is responsible for the cost of returning the product to Bolton Technical unless otherwise agreed.

  6. Original express, priority or premium delivery charges are non-refundable.

  7. A handling fee may apply where a product is returned incomplete, damaged, or without its original packaging, and this affects our ability to resell or process the returned product.

Warranty Repairs and Replacements

If a product is returned for a warranty assessment, our technical team or the manufacturer may inspect and test the product to determine the cause of the fault.

Where the fault qualifies under the warranty, the product may be repaired or replaced, depending on the nature of the issue and the appropriate remedy.

Once an approved warranty repair or replacement has been completed, the product will be returned to the customer at no additional standard delivery cost.

Warranty Exclusions

The manufacturer’s warranty covers qualifying defects in materials and workmanship.

It may not apply where a product has been damaged or its electronic or physical condition has been affected by circumstances such as:

  • Misuse or neglect

  • Mishandling or accidental damage

  • Unauthorised modification or alteration

  • Incorrect installation

  • Improper use

  • Physical damage

  • Electrical or surge damage outside the scope of the manufacturer’s warranty

  • Damage caused by circumstances unrelated to a manufacturing or workmanship defect

If you are unsure whether an issue may be covered, please contact us. We would rather assess the problem and help you determine the next step.

Surge Protection

Correct surge protection is important for protecting your equipment.

Where applicable, the supplied RF lightning surge protector should be correctly installed and grounded to help protect the outdoor antenna side of the system.

A separate AC mains surge protector rated at a minimum of 1,000 joules is also required to help protect the amplifier against electrical power surges and maintain warranty protection.

The RF surge protector and AC mains surge protector protect against different surge paths and one does not replace the other.

Products Purchased on Promotion

Products purchased during a Bolton Technical promotion or sale are treated in the same way as standard-price purchases for the purposes of our 30-day money-back guarantee, subject to the return requirements outlined above.

Our product standards and customer support do not change because an item was purchased on promotion.

How to Arrange a Return

To start a return, warranty assessment or exchange, please contact Bolton Technical before sending the product back.

We will provide you with an RMA number and the relevant return instructions.

Telephone: 011 749 3085 or 021 879 3057
Email: sales@boltontechnical.co.za

Please do not send products back without first obtaining an RMA, as this may delay processing.

How powerful is the A1000?

The A1000 combines high gain with strong uplink and downlink output—three specifications that should always be checked when comparing signal boosters.

Up to 85 dB gain
Helps amplify weak incoming signal.

Up to +30 dBm uplink power
Helps your phone communicate back to a distant tower.

Up to +25 dBm downlink power
Provides more power to distribute usable signal throughout the building.

Don’t compare coverage claims alone. Before you compare square metres, compare the power behind the claim.

Installation Tip:

Before You Get Started:

Please note that the standard signal booster kit does not include the mounting hardware required for the outdoor antenna.

You will need a suitable wall bracket and mounting pole to securely install the antenna outside and position it toward the best available signal source.

These items can be purchased separately if you don’t already have a suitable mounting point available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do some signal boosters claim to cover much larger areas than more powerful WilsonPro systems?

Because coverage claims are easy to print. RF performance is harder to fake.

A signal booster’s real-world coverage is not determined by a single square-metre number. It depends on things like the outdoor signal available, building materials, antenna layout, cable losses, supported frequencies, gain, and — crucially — the booster’s actual uplink and downlink output power.

That’s why a booster with lower output power claiming dramatically more coverage than a higher-powered commercial system should raise a few questions.

At Bolton Technical, we prefer to give realistic coverage guidance based on signal conditions, rather than headline numbers that assume a perfect environment.

So when comparing boosters, don’t just ask:

“How many square metres does it cover?”

Ask:

“What is the actual downlink output power, uplink output power and gain — and under what signal conditions is that coverage figure achievable?”

If those numbers aren’t clearly published, the square-metre claim doesn’t tell you very much.

Big claims are easy. The specs tell the real story.

What’s the difference between the A500 and A1000?

The WilsonPro A500 delivers up to 70 dB gain and is an excellent choice for smaller homes, offices and targeted coverage areas.

The A1000 is the higher-performance option, delivering up to 85 dB maximum gain, together with up to +30 dBm uplink power and +25 dBm downlink power.

That additional gain and output capability becomes especially valuable where outdoor signal is weak, the serving tower is further away, or signal needs to be distributed across a larger building.

Coverage alone doesn't tell the full story. When comparing boosters, look at maximum gain, uplink power and downlink power — and the signal conditions under which the advertised coverage is achievable.

What is the A1000 and how does it work?

The A1000 is a high-performance cell phone signal booster designed to improve voice and data coverage inside buildings. It captures the outdoor signal, amplifies it, and rebroadcasts it indoors, giving you stronger signal where you need it most.

How big of an area does it cover?

Under excellent outdoor signal conditions, the A1000 can be split into up to four indoor broadcasting antennas and cover as much as 1500m². However, in real-world environments – especially where outdoor signal is weak or building materials block signal – actual coverage may be significantly less. It's always best to assess your outdoor signal strength before estimating coverage.

Can I install it myself?

Yes – the A1000 comes with a complete DIY installation kit, including a 15-metre and a 10-metre coaxial cable to connect your outdoor and indoor antennas to the amplifier. It’s designed for straightforward setup with step-by-step instructions.

However, for more complex installations or if you need a custom solution, we highly recommend using our professional installation team to ensure optimal performance and compliance with best practices.

Will the A1000 work in rural or remote areas?

Absolutely – as long as there's some outdoor signal, the A1000 can boost it indoors. For extremely weak areas, pairing the A1000 with a high-gain outdoor antenna like our Long Ranger or Arrow LPDA is recommended.

What’s the warranty and return policy?

The A1000 comes with a 3-year warranty and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Will this boost 4G or just calls?

Yes – the A1000 boosts both voice and data signals, including 3G, 4G, and LTE, depending on what your mobile network provides in your area.

However, it’s important to note that the booster does not increase your internet speed beyond what your mobile network or ISP already offers. What it does do is provide your phone or LTE device with a stronger, more stable signal, which leads to more consistent data speeds, fewer dropped calls, and better overall performance – especially indoors or in areas with weak coverage.

Does this booster work with 5G?

Yes — it boosts 5G signals that run on the 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands through Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), which is how MTN and some other networks deliver 5G in many areas. It does not boost the dedicated 3.5 GHz (n78) 5G band used for the highest-capacity 5G sites. Most users still experience a significant improvement in data speeds and reliability because a large portion of current 5G traffic still uses the supported bands.

Do I need surge protection for my A1000 booster?

Yes. Like any electronic device, the A1000 is vulnerable to power surges and lightning strikes, which can cause permanent damage to the system. Surge protection is essential to keep your booster safe and functioning reliably.

To protect your investment, we strongly recommend plugging your booster into a surge protector plug and installing the lightning surge protector (included with your kit), making sure it is properly grounded.

Is it safe to use in my home or office?

Yes – the A1000 is completely safe to use in homes, offices, and vehicles. It meets all local and international safety and emissions standards, including those set by ICASA.

In fact, using a signal booster can actually reduce your exposure to radiation. When your phone struggles to find signal, it emits higher levels of radiation to stay connected. With a booster like the A1000 improving your signal, your phone can operate more efficiently at lower power levels.

To put it in perspective: holding a cell phone next to your head emits more radiation than having a signal booster quietly installed in a corner of your home or car.
